Join us for Worship this Sunday!
Dear Holland's Family,
Grace and peace! The love of Jesus in me greets the love of Jesus in you.
This coming weekend we will continue our Lenten Sermon Series on Jesus said, I AM. Pastor Rich got us started last Sunday with his sermon, Jesus said, I AM the Gate (John 10:1-10). We were reminded that the invitation from Christ is to abundant life now and forever.
Our focus this week, as we celebrate Holy Communion, will be on a portion of Jesus' discourse as he fed five thousand hungry bodies and souls. They followed him across the Sea of Galilee the next day after the great physical feeding searching for Jesus and hoping he would provide for them more bread!
Sunday's sermon will be: Jesus said, I AM the Bread of Life. The sixth chapter of John's gospel is saturated with Jesus' claim to be the Bread of Life. In fact, in this chapter the words bread, loaves, or manna are recorded no less than 23 times. In this chapter Jesus refers to himself in the first person as "the bread of life" no less than 5 times. We will center in on verses 25-35, which culminate with Jesus proclaiming for the first time, "I am the bread of life." He continues, extending this invitation: "Whoever comes to me will never be hungry ..." (vs. 35).
