Dear Holland's Family,
The love of Jesus in me greets the love of Jesus in you! Grace and peace.
Before sharing around this coming Sunday's worship, I want to say a word about the events of this week regarding the horrific and tragic shooting that took place in Orlando, Florida this past Sunday.
I have had this incident on my mind and in my prayers throughout recent days. I'm confident you have as well. Let me begin by sharing a portion of a statement made by Bishop Mark J. Webb (Upper NY Annual Conference), as reported by Good News Magazine:
"Days like this remind us that evil is real and darkness is part of the world in which we live. As people who claim faith in Jesus Christ, we know the light, we have been changed by the light, and we are called to offer the light of Christ to the world ... Our world needs the good news - let us be people of good news! Our world needs Jesus - let us be people who invite others to know the One we know. In the midst of violence, let us not shrink from the hope we have in the one we call Savior ... Lord in your mercy comfort those who mourn, touch those who need your healing and provide peace in the midst of fear. Lord, in your mercy allow goodness to overcome evil and light to pierce the darkness." [Amen]
