Dear Holland’s Family,
The love of Jesus in me greets the love of Jesus in you! Grace and peace!
This coming Sunday we will continue our sermon series, Joyful Living! In this series we are taking a close look at Paul’s Epistle of Joy, the letter he wrote to the Church at Philippi. So far we have looked at chapter one of Philippians and considered Joyful Living in Community & Joyful Living through Adversity. This week Pastor Rich will lead us in our focus on Philippians 2:1-13. This is the passage in which Paul quotes what may be one of the first hymns of the Christian Church. Paul encourages us: “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus.” (vs. 5). He then shares the hymn noting that Christ’s mind was such that our Lord did not exploit his divinity, but rather “emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he HUMBLED himself and became OBEDIENT to the point of death – even death on a cross.” (vs. 7-8, emphasis added). The sermon title this week is Joyful Living Through Humility.
