Hand in Hand in Partnership with Vance Elementary School

Coordinator: Joanie Smothers

Hand in Hand is an opportunity for you to share God's blessings and love with the students and staff at Vance.

Volunteers serve them in 3 ways:

1. We pray for the school, our church and our commitment to support children in our local community!

2. We have volunteers that pray for and encourage specific staff members throughout school year.

3. We have reading buddies for students who need extra help(only 30 minutes/week)

If God is directing you to serve in any of these areas or you need more info, contact Joanie Smothers- cell 919-961-3699 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Garner United Methodist has a good article describing this ministry they founded:  http://www.garnerumc.org/outreach/hope-ministry.

12 He said also to the one who had invited him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14 And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous” (Luke 14:12-14 NRSV).
