Search for Financial Associate
The Financial Associate will provide leadership for accurate financial records so that Holland’s United Methodist Church can more intentionally and faithfully serve as a “caring community that invites and equips people to follow Jesus.”
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintain accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; maintain access to the ACS database and its related programs; facilitate the education of staff, volunteers, and the congregation (when necessary) on the use of the ACS database; manage updates to the system including any new modules or follow-on products; manage the maintenance of a usable membership database. Maintain accurate records for accounts payable and pay invoices on time; maintain payroll records, process payroll, and prepare quarterly and year-end tax reports. Make monthly payroll tax deposits for federal and state taxes; issue bi-annual giving statements that conform to IRS guidelines. Provide statements to members on an as-requested basis; reconcile all church bank and investment accounts. Collect, post and account for all contributions, rental fees, and other monies received by the church. Prepare year-end and other financial reports as required for the NC conference. Oversee the purchase order system. Prepare monthly journal entries as required. Prepare monthly financial reports for Finance Committee. Serve as the contact person for pension, retirement, and insurance plans for the Ministry Support Team. Assist the Stewardship Committee and Finance Committee as requested and enter approved budget in the accounting system. Serve as staff representative to the Finance Committee. Provide records to the annual audit and assist the external auditor as necessary during the audit. Carry out responsibilities according to the Policies and Procedures manual for Holland’s United Methodist Church. Perform other duties and assignments not specifically noted above according to the needs of the church, the Lead Pastor, and the Staff/Parish Relations Committee.
- Attend weekly Ministry Support Team (MST) meetings.
- Annually attend continuing education event(s).
- Other duties as directed by the Lead Pastor, Finance Committee or Staff/Parish Relations Committee.
It is anticipated this position will require approximately 25 hours per week. Some weeks may require more hours while some weeks may require less hours, depending on work load and financial deadlines.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
