Centering Prayer meets on Monday night from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the parlor. Our Center Prayer sessions have three different parts: a 20 minute period of quiet centering prayer, followed by a discussion from a particular spiritual classic or book about prayer, and finally a brief time to pray for others. Centering prayer involves choosing a "sacred" word that is used to remind yourself you are there to pray. When in the course of the 20 minutes of centering you find your mind wandering, simply return to this word to remind yourself that you are there at that time to pray. Centering Prayer helps us to focus on the presence of Christ in our hearts and so to grow in our relationship to God. Currently our book is Merton's Palace of Nowhere, which is about our identity in Christ. Join us on Monday nights to deepen your prayer life and learn more!
